A week-long day program designed by professional musicians for musicians (beginners to experienced) who want to develop their musical potential, learn about being in a rock band and have lots of fun. Students will learn the skills necessary to learn rock songs and perform them together live. This is a hands-on experience, so the maximum emphasis is on playing your instruments and learning material for performing with quality results. This program stresses individuality as an artist and also includes team-building fundamentals to develop confidence and stage presence. Ultimately, musicians of all skill levels work to become more creative, experienced and well-rounded through activities including song writing, music theory, band “jam” sessions, and workshops held by Rock and Roll Academy faculty.
Topics include:
Listening: To play in a band, you have to hear what’s going on – both in your playing and in others’
Dynamics: How you and your band can vary your sound to make your music as exciting as possible
Tempo & Groove: Fun with time! Learn how to get a groove going and keep it going.
Soloing: How to improvise a terrific solo
Understanding Song Forms: Know the 12-bar blues from AABABCB and more
Reading Charts: Learn the basics of reading a musical chart -no previous music-reading experience necessary!
