We say goodbye to a great friend, Randy Ward.

Randy Ward was a great friend, supporter and musician with the Music Academy for several years.  He died October 6, 2015.  He played tenor saxophone with the New Horizons Band, as well as with the Tar River Community Band. The band enjoyed his jovial nature and his quick wit.  Randy was a great supporter of the Music Academy and always wanted to ensure children could access quality lessons for saxophone and other instruments.  Randy often expressed how much music meant to his daily living.  He is greatly missed and will be remembered with lots of love and laughter from everyone who knew him.

MAEC welcomes New Faculty

We are excited to announce additions to the MAEC faculty.

Brittany Cox, Debbie Davis and Joshua Allen have joined with the Music Academy to provide a new program with the Jarvis Unit of the Coastal Plains Boys and Girls Club.  MAEC is exicted to offer three ensembles - band, choir and strings - for this school year!  In addition, Brittany Cox is looking forward to offering cello lessons.  Brittany if from Chesapeake, VA and is completing her music education degree with the ECU School of Music.  She is excited to bring her love of music to students in this community.  Debbie Davis has retired after a successful career teaching band in NC public schools.  She enjoys being a part of individuals discovering their jouney through music.  With flute as her primary instrument, Debbie is looking forward to working with students in private lessons as well as teaching band ensembles.  Joshua Allen smiles greatly when talking about his voice and piano students with the Music Academy.

Marvin Santos looks forward to sharing his love of music with students at the Music Academy!  Originally from Brazil, Marvin has made eastern NC home.  He enjoys electric guitar and bass guitar, sharing music in many styles including jazz, blues and pop styles. Come and catch his enthusiam for music!

Emerson Voss looks forward to building a studio teaching piano, music theory, music composition, bass guitar and clarinet lessons.  Moving to Greenville to pursue his graduate music studies at East Carolina University, he is eager to get involved with this community. Please join us in welcoming Emerson to eastern NC and the Music Academy!

Welcome Kathryn Holley home to Greenville and to our reception staff!  After earning undergraduate and graduate music degrees outside of Greenville, Kathryn is pursuing advanced performance studies in flute at East Carolina University and is excited to make the transition from a former music academy student to a member of our faculty!  In addition to working in our reception area, she is also interested in teaching!  We are thrilled to have her among us again.  Be sure to give her an extra welcome home!

Violinist, Bryar Omer, has joined the Music Academy and looks forward to teaching violin and group string classes for children, youth and adults!  Having earned his  music education degree at Salahaddin University College of Fine Arts in Kurdistan, he has made eastern NC his home.  His enthusiasm for music and teaching both privately and in group settings is contagious! Help us welcome Bryar to the Music Academy!
