    Judy Barber

    French Horn, Brass

     Judy holds bachelor and masters degrees in Music Theory and Composition from East Carolina University and a Bachelor of Religious Education from Cornerstone University, Grand Rapids, Michigan. For four years she was director of bands at The Oakwood School while teaching music theory, music history, sight singing, and music appreciation at the ECU School of Music. She also taught art and general music for five years at the Greenville Christian Academy. Judy is a member of the Barton College/Wilson Symphony Orchestra, Rocky Mount’s Tar River Orchestra and Tar River Symphonic Band, and she performs regularly as a free-lance musician throughout eastern North Carolina. Mrs. Barber loves to teach, and endeavors to create a positive, encouraging environment in which the student’s personal and musical self-confidence is promoted while they advance in technical ability and artistic awareness.






    Dan Jones



    Dan received his music degree from North Carolina School of the Arts.  He simply enjoys teaching andperforming!  Dan has performed with many ensembles, large and small, community and professional, and finds them all rewarding.  Many of his students have received accolades with earning college scholarhsips and honors with middle and high school honor bands.  When he is not training for his next marathon, Dan enjoys his music and participating in his student's performances.  He enjoys performing both the "serious classical" music and being a part of the Virtuoso di Academia at the Music Academy's Musical Mirth concerts.  In addition to teaching with MAEC, Dan also teaches trumpet with Pitt Community College.  You don't want to miss seeing him!




    Erich Coleman


    Erich Coleman grew up in a family full of music and community service.  He was involved with the Music Academy during his high school years.  As part of an Eagle Scout and Boy Scouting, he brought community the community together for recitals and performances at the Music Academy.  He is involved with high school band programs, assisting with marching and concert music.  In addition, he arranges music accessible for smaller wind band ensembles. Erich has a true heart and passion for music making. He enjoys students of all ages. He loves to interact with students who are unique and determined to succeed.
