Judy holds bachelor and masters degrees in Music Theory and Composition from East Carolina University and a Bachelor of Religious Education from Cornerstone University, Grand Rapids, Michigan. For four years she was director of bands at the Oakwood School while teaching music theory, music history, sight singing, and music appreciation at the ECU School of Music. She also taught art and general music for five years at the Greenville Christian Academy. Judy is a member of the Barton College/Wilson Symphony Orchestra and Rocky Mount’s Tar River Orchestra and Tar River Symphonic Band, and she performs regularly as a free-lance musician throughout eastern North Carolina. Mrs. Barber loves to teach, and endeavors to create a positive, encouraging environment in which the student’s personal and musical self-confidence is promoted while they advance in technical ability and artistic awareness.
Dan received his music degree from North Carolina School of the Arts. He simply enjoys teaching andperforming! Dan has performed with many ensembles, large and small, community and professional, and finds them all rewarding. Many of his students have received accolades with earning college scholarhsips and honors with middle and high school honor bands. When he is not training for his next marathon, Dan enjoys his music and participating in his student's performances. He enjoys performing both the "serious classical" music and being a part of the Virtuoso di Academia at the Music Academy's Musical Mirth concerts. You don't want to miss seeing him!
Chris received his music degree from UNC Greensboro. When he is not teaching, practicing, or performing Chris like to explore the outdoors, travel, and dine out at Chopsticks and Red Bowl. Chris currently teaches music at a middle school in Tarboro by day and performs with various musical groups by night. He loves to teach students who are unique, determined to succeed, and are virtuous.
